Harriet was born on September 5, 1916 in Peoria, daughter of Harry & Mary (Meyer) Clauson. She married Thomas S. Hulting, Sr. on February 22, 1942 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1986. Her parents; a nephew, Raymond Hulting; and her beloved sisters-in-law, Mildred Ball and Juanita Schmidt, also preceded her in death.

Harriet had very strong faith and her life centered around her family and church. Enjoying time with her grandchildren, she always had new toys for them, gathered from frequent trips to area garage sales. She found it easy to talk to anyone, had scores of friends, and loved dogs, especially her pet Dachshunds. She was a beautiful mother and grandmother.
Harriet was a lifelong member of the Reformed Church In America (1st Reformed and Christ Community) and was a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria. She was very active in the life of the church and Peoria area organizations including Neighborhood House, South Side Mission and Peoria Rescue Ministries.
